Christmas Eve
Joseph and Mary arrive in
Bethlehem,
but there is no room in
the inn.
Do you know
how hard it is to give
birth?
Imagine that, but without
today's equipment,
no nurses or doctors,
and a piercing cold
little cave, in
which to bring forth
your first born son.
add that to a couple of
cows, a donkey, fatigue
from traveling and
a nervous husband,
and that's pretty much
what Mary had to
go through.
Do I answer the knocks on my
heart and make room for Jesus?

Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

The O Antiphons are a very old
part of the Liturgy that recall
the long waiting for the

who orders all things mightily,
to us the path of knowledge
show, and teach us in her ways
to go.
